If you have the regular video camera recorder if you illuminate the room with infrared light invisible to the naked eye, does it mess up the recording?

Answer by Mandy Theoretically, any camcorder or CCD (charge coupled device) based camera could be used for filming infrared light. However, all color video cameras and some black and white units are designed to eliminate infrared light. Normally, infrared light is deliberately blocked from reaching the CCD in a video camera by using a special infrared blocking filter. This is done because infrared light is not needed to make up the picture and would only make the colour reproduction incorrect. All light hitting the CCD creates electronic signals which are picked up by the camera’s circuitry. Since these signals are used to create the video output, any infrared light appears in the final picture as a visible colour such as white, red or green (depending on the camera) – usually an undesirable effect. The internal infrared blocking filter is typically a small piece of glass mounted in front of the CCD by various means and is not usually considered to be a removable part.

Question by : Is there a video camera that has IR, night vision, and digital settings all combined in one?
I was wondering if there is a video camera that records digitally but also can record IR and night vision simultaneously — that is, if I look at this camera’s viewing screen, I can switch from digital, to IR, or to night vision at the flip of a switch.
Also, could this camera switch through these settings at will when previewing a recording?
So if I’m previewing a recording in night vision, can I flip a switch to IR and see the same recording in a different setting?

IR is a type night vision .. the other is light magnification like the military “starlight scopes” famous from the Vietnam era and it relies on ambient light instead of an infrared light source. Such devices are called a night vision device (NVD)
A digital camera is a digital camera no matter what light source is being used.
