Question by coool: do the marines lack sufficient equipment in Iraq like generation kill?
I’m seeing the series, so i want to know if what they depict is true: whether the army is well supplied unlike the Marines who lack batteries for their night vision, for example.
Is it possible for a marine who invaded Iraq to answer ty

Best answer:

Answer by rundown73
All I know is that the series is based on a nonfiction book. And the marines depicted in it are actually producing the show. At least in the case of those particular marines, it is true.

June 2003 Hamid Karzai’s early attempts to restore security in Afghanistan are being hampered by the Taliban, who are using Pakistan as a base to launch further attacks. In post-Taliban Afghanistan, politics remains a deadly business. The vice president and a cabinet minister have been murdered and Karzai himself narrowly escaped assassination. The most serious threat comes from a re-invigorated Taliban. They are distancing themselves from Al Qaeda and allying themselves with disgruntled warlords. Ahmed Rashid, one of the world’s leading analysts of the Taliban, believes they are being covertly assisted by Pakistan: “The intelligence agencies have given freedom of movement and freedom of access across the border to the Taliban.” In the madrasses of North West Pakistan, new Taliban graduates are still preparing to fight the Americans. The Taliban are remarkably well equipped with surface-to-air missiles, body armour and night-vision equipment. Another problem is that US officers simply don’t trust the Afghan army or pro-Karzai militia. “A lot of the times you don’t know who your friend is and who your foe is,” complains Captain Mike Gonzales. Ordinary Afghans have seen little evidence of the billion aid promised and are unlikely to see much reconstruction while the country remains so unstable. If the issue of security is not addressed soon, experts like Rashid predict that the situation will only get worse. Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

Though entering service in 1971, this weapon was not revealed to the public until 1974, hence its model designation. The main armament is a modified version of the D-30 122mm Howitzer. A power rammer / extractor facilitates a high rate of fire and permits reloading at any angle of elevation. Infra-red night vision lights and nuclear / biological / chemical protection are standard equipment. Other capabilities include amphibious propulsion (by means of its tracks) and suspension adjustment lowering height allowing rapid deployment by tactical transport aircraft.

Protective armor on the hull is 14mm thick and 20mm on the turret. The transmission is manual, with five forward and one reverse gear. The engine is a YaMz-238V, V-8 water cooled diesel of 240 horsepower. Over 10,000 of the vehicles were built by Bulgarian, Polish, and former Soviet state factories. They have seen service in the armies of at least 12 nations. This example was a war trophy of the 1/17th Field Artillery Regiment.
